On October 21st, 2007, my wife gave birth to our first child, Zara. The pregnancy was not planned. I was in grad school when I found out she was pregnant and ended up quitting school as it wasn't realistic to continue grad school with a child - many years ahead of me with large time commitments and a modest stipend. No big loss as I wasn't really enjoying school too much at the time and I had a lot still ahead of me. My wife, on the other hand had been working so the obvious choice was for her to continue working and for me to stay at home to raise Zara.
For the past 11 weeks since Zara was born, my wife, Erika, has been on maternity leave. It has been a lot of fun. We just hang out every day and try to our best to keep our baby happy, which is a handful.
On January 14th, Erika is going back to work and it's going to be just me and Zara. To be honest, I'm a little scared - Zara can be a handful. But am taking the responsibilities very seriously.
Well, anyway, this blog is going to document the trials and tribulations I will face. Wish me luck...
